Alkane drills down at Kaiser

Maiden drilling at Platina Resources’ Xanadu gold project in WA has confirmed a large-scale gold system over 600m by 600m in all directions.

Alkane Resources has announced further results from its drilling program at the Kaiser deposit, which is part of its Northern Molong Porphyry project (NMPP) located near Wellington in the central west region of NSW.

Exploration has been carried out by Alkane at NMPP since 2019. In the same year, the company discovered the Boda-Kaiser resources which represents a total metal inventory of 7.3 million gold ounces and 1.4 million tonnes of copper.

Multiple drilling programs have been carried out at both deposits, most recently being in October and August. The drilling program conducted most recently extended over three kilometres from Alkane’s Kaiser and Boda deposits, through to Boda 2-3.

Alkane Resources said this system has the potential to be a large, Tier 1 gold-copper project based on the drilling programs’ gold-copper porphyry mineralisation intercepts.

Assay results were received from an initial 11,000m of drilling, which infilled the inferred mineral resource estimate (MRE) at the Kaiser deposit that contains 2.1 million gold ounces and 0.5 million tonnes of copper. It is currently being infilled to a nominal 50m by 50m drill grid spacing.

Alkane then plans to drill test regional targets generated by the recent airborne gravity survey, soil geochemistry, electrical geophysics and drilling.

“It is pleasing to receive the initial results from our infill drilling program at Kaiser. We will be drilling at Kaiser into January 2024 and will then upgrade our mineral resource estimation during Q1 2024,” Alkane Resources managing director Nic Earner said.

“This will complement the upgrade to the Boda mineral resource estimate that is currently underway and expected to be completed before the end of the year. Once the Kaiser drilling is complete, we will move to drill some of the other excellent targets we have identified within the broader project area.”

Alkane’s Kaiser deposit earned the company the NSW Minerals Council’s Explorer of the Year award in May.
