Intrinsically safe computers

APC Technology has released intrinsically safe devices specifically developed for use in hazardous areas where an explosive mixture of air and gas or vapour is or may be present.

The company’s intrinsically safe devices include an intrinsically safe keyboard – Certified IECEx 60079.11. The KBIM2-IS is a full QWERTY PC keyboard with integral mouse for use in hazardous environments.

The unit is intrinsically safe, protected via safety barriers, and is suitable for use in Zone 0 hazardous areas.

The range also includes an industrial pointing device – Certified IECEx – Ex ia I/IIc T4 IP65, and a Hazardous Locations Computer – Enclosure Certified to IECEx Exd IIB T6 IP66.

The IM2-IS is a short stick Industrial OPTO mouse for use in hazardous environments.

The unit is intrinsically safe, protected via safety barriers, and is suitable for use in Zone 0 hazardous areas.

The Hazardous Locations Computer provides full PC functionality in hazardous areas.

It comprises an explosion proof (Ex d) enclosure and either a PC and/or a display (sizes up to 12.1”), which may be connected to the optional intrinsically safe QWERTY keyboard and pointer.
