Capricorn Metals has announced it has appointed Jill Irvin as a non-executive director of the company.
An experienced geologist with over 25 years of experience in mining, Irvin is currently the principal geologist at Entech, an international mining consultant specialising in resource geology, mining engineering and geotechnical services.
Irvin has worked for several Australian gold and base metals companies, performing a variety of roles including resource estimation, near mine exploration, and mining geology.
“We are excited to welcome Jill to the Capricorn board,” Capricorn executive chairman Mark Clark said.
“Her extensive mining experience, particularly in underground resources and project evaluation will be a valuable addition to the board and we look forward to her contribution,”
Irvin joins the company off the back of its record revenue in the 2023 financial year (FY23), totalling $320.8 million.
The record was set thanks to production at Capricorn’s Karlawinda gold project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia reaching 120,014 ounces, at an all-in-sustaining-cost (AISC) of $1208 per ounce.
“FY23 was another very strong year of operations at Karlawinda, with the project generating outstanding cashflow,” Capricorn executive chairman Mark Clark said.
“We look forward to another strong year of operations at Karlawinda and advancing the development of Mount Gibson in FY24.”
A pre-feasibility survey of Capricorn’s Mount Gibson gold project located approximately 280km from Perth came back with a maiden ore reserve estimate of 48.7 million tonnes, increasing Capricorn’s gold reserves to 2.8 million ounces.
The study shows long-term, high-margin gold production averaging over 150,000 ounces a year.
