The 2023 Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference (QMIHSC) will take place from August 20–23 at the Star in the Gold Coast.
It is expected to see over 1000 industry delegates converge. The attendees will include operators, regulators and health and safety experts.
The event will focus on one thing: to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of every worker in the mining sector.
“The theme of the 33rd QMIHSC is ‘Inside Looking Out’ and will feature expert speakers and plenary sessions that put a spotlight on workers’ safety and on creating inclusive and welcoming workplaces,” QMIHSC chair Larnie Mackay said.
The QMIHSC is the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere, with delegates travelling from all corners of the world to hear from leading health and safety experts.
“We encourage all industry chief executive officers, senior leaders, mine workers and health and safety professionals working in Queensland’s resources sector to register for the conference, which also include award presentations, a gala dinner and so much more,” Mackay said.
“The conference is a key event on the mining industry calendar bringing together mine workers, support services, suppliers, unions, industry, regulators and government to work together to share ideas about new safety innovations and critical health techniques in the pursuit of our goal of an industry with zero serious harm.”
Some sponsors and exhibitors confirmed to be attending the conference include Yancoal, Glencore, uvex Safety, Industree Group, Komatsu, Avetta, Anglo American, Simtars, Mining, Energy Union Queensland.
BHP Mitsubishi Alliance is serving as the principal sponsor.
