Core Lithium has announced that it will relocate its corporate head office to Perth, in line with its transition to lithium producer.
Perth has been dubbed the corporate centre of Australia’s lithium industry, which Core has said will give the company better access to services providers.
“Perth provides a direct and regular route to the Finniss Lithium Operation, via Darwin in the Northern Territory,” the company said in a statement announcing the change.
The Core Lithium Finniss mine shipped its first 15,000 tonnes bound for China last week.
“Perth has become Australia’s lithium hub and hosts one of the nation’s largest mining talent pools,” Core Lithium chief executive officer Gareth Manderson said.
“Relocating the corporate head office to Perth makes sense for Core and forms part of our broader strategy to build a sustainable, value-driven lithium business.”
Establishment of the Perth office is expected to occur by mid-2023, with closure of the current Adelaide office likely to be concluded by the end of the year.
Core has offered all Adelaide-based employees the option to relocate to Perth.
To accompany the corporate growth of Core’s new office, the company has announced two key appointments to the executive leadership team.
Melissa Winks will come on board as executive general manager, sustainability, and Andrew Forman will take on the position of interim chief financial officer (CFO).
Winks has experience in Canada and the NT, establishing key relationships with the NT Government and key local stakeholders.
Forman will become interim CFO in February and brings with him a wealth of knowledge from the mining sector.
“I am delighted to welcome Melissa Winks and Andrew Forman to the Core team,” Manderson said.
“Melissa will take the lead of our sustainability and ESG strategy in this newly created executive position. This is a key piece of work and a critical role for the business.
“Andrew brings a great set of skills and experience to the team as interim CFO and will ensure a seamless handover of this critical finance function.”
