Civmec has obtained three new contracts for the proposed Albemarle Lithium Kemerton expansion project in WA.
The first of the three contracts focuses on Civmec manufacturing 25 carbon steel tanks, which will be fully fabricated, welded and assembled in its Henderson facility before being transported to the Kemerton site. The tanks’ delivery would be staged across 2023.
The second contract emphasises on a successful delivery of the project’s stage-one civil works. Civmec will provide detailed earthworks and concrete works at the Kemerton lithium site, which needs over 25,000 square metres of concrete.
In order to deliver that concrete, Civmec will supply all of the necessary materials, equipment and labour. It is estimated 200 skilled workers would be required.
The third contract outlines how Civmec would manufacture eight kilns for the Kemerton project, adding to a total combined weight of approximately 900 tonnes.
Civmec’s chief executive officer Patrick Tallon said the company was pleased to continue its relationship with Albemarle after the construction of its first two trains at Kemerton.
“The award of these contracts is testament to how our teams continue to deliver successful projects for our clients,” Tallon said.
“These contracts are for the fifth Lithium project that we have been involved in, demonstrating how we are making a positive contribution to decarbonise the world’s energy supplies.”
The three contracts are a part of Civmec’s recent award of $100 million in new contracts to carry out various manufacturing, construction and maintenance services for the resources sector.
The new contracts at Albemarle Lithium contribute to bringing the company’s total order book to $1.2 billion as of March 30.
