St George Mining has seen encouraging results from lithium exploration activities undertaken at its Mt Alexander project in Western Australia.
Numerous drill holes across the site have intersected anomalous lithium, caesium, tantalum and tin values, with assays pending for an additional 851 samples.
“Assay results received to date continue to demonstrate the presence of mineralised pegmatites that commence from or near surface and continue to depths of up to 300m below surface,” St George executive chairman John Prineas said.
“High grades have been observed, highlighting the potential of the pegmatite system that remains open at depth and along strike of the prospective horizon.
“A follow-up drill programme will be planned once all drill results are received and interpreted with a focus likely to be the ultramafic sequence where the highest lithium values have been intersected so far.”
St George completed its first drilling at the site for 2023 in February, when it announced it intended to explore 20,000m throughout the first half of the year.
“This is an important milestone for Mt Alexander,” Prineas said at the time, adding that the company was thrilled to be ramping up its drilling operations.
“Mt Alexander is an exciting lithium opportunity and just one of several highly prospective battery minerals project in St George’s expanding pipeline.”
“We are pleased to have boots on the ground again at Mt Alexander as we kick off our big exploration program for 2023.
“Assays from rock chip samples collected last year have been received and confirm an extension to the area at the Jailbreak Prospect that hosts pegmatite outcrop with high-grade lithium.
“The rock chip assay results provide further encouragement of the exploration upside at Mt Alexander.”
