Red 5 continues ongoing renewal of its board

Pilbara Minerals

Fresh off its stunning June quarter results, Red 5 has announced that Peter Johnston will join its board as a non-executive director.

In late June, it was announced that Russell Clark will join the board on July 1, and would help guide the company as it focuses on its King of the Hills (KOTH) gold mine in Western Australia.

Johnston has held senior roles with major resource companies including head of global nickel assets for Glencore, managing director and chief executive officer of Glencore subsidiary Minara Resources and executive general manager at WMC Resources for Olympic Dam – now operated by BHP.

Johnston is currently chair of Jervois Mining and non-executive director of NRW Holdings.

“Having only recently joined the Red 5 board as chair, it is my great pleasure on behalf of the company to welcome Peter Johnston, who joins the Red 5 board as a non-executive director as part of our ongoing board renewal process,” Clark said of Johnston’s appointment.

“Peter is a well-known and highly regarded global mining executive whose impressive career across a 35-year period speaks volumes for the skills and experience that he brings to Red 5.

“Peter has held both board and senior management positions with some of the world’s largest mining companies, and he brings a unique blend of mining, operational, commercial and corporate capabilities that will greatly enhance the makeup of the Red 5 board.

“We are looking forward to Peter’s wise counsel, input and guidance as we build on the strong foundations which the Red 5 team has created and work hard to cement our position as a leading mid-tier Australian gold producer over the next few years.”
